The Guiyang Public Health Clinical Center has been accepted as a member of the Shanghai Ruijin Smart Medical Consortium.
Through the consortium's dedicated network and high-definition video system, experts from Guizhou province and Shanghai municipality can now cooperate in the cloud to jointly tackle complex cases. This allows patients to receive multi-tiered care: local doctor companionship combined with video consultations from experts of Shanghai Ruijin Hospital.
A patient surnamed Zhou benefited from this remote consultation service. Zhou has an underlying condition of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and was hospitalized for herpes zoster, with concurrent multiple cranial nerve and spinal cord damage.
Ma Jianfang, a neurologist from Shanghai Ruijin Hospital, participated in the consultation. Based on the patient's history, Ma accurately diagnosed the patient with myelitis and provided a systematic treatment plan covering disease management and medication, buying precious time for the patient's recovery.
Zhang Manna, director of the medical department at Guiyang Public Health Clinical Center, who also attended the consultation, stated that this model of bringing high-quality medical resources to Guiyang will also enhance the center's diagnostic and treatment capabilities, allowing more patients with complex diseases to receive a clear diagnosis and treatment plan close to home.
To date, utilizing the consortium's remote platform, Guiyang Public Health Clinical Center and Shanghai Ruijin Hospital have launched remote consultation services across multiple specialties, successfully overcoming geographical barriers.
Moving forward, the center will continue to optimize its collaboration mechanism with the consortium, expand the coverage of remote medical services, and promote the distribution of high-quality medical resources to the grassroots level, thereby improving local residents' access to healthcare and overall satisfaction.
