Guiyang's industrial sector has emerged as a powerful driver of economic growth during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).
Over the past five years, the city's total industrial output has surpassed 400 billion yuan ($57.14 billion), while industrial added value has climbed past the 100-billion-yuan mark. Its contribution to economic growth has risen from 21.9 percent to 31.1 percent.
The added-value growth rate of industrial enterprises above designated size has remained strong, reaching around 10 percent in 2024 – its highest level in nearly seven years.
Guiyang is now home to more than 23,000 industrial market entities and 919 industrial enterprises above designated size, both record highs.
The city has also fostered a dynamic enterprise landscape, including five companies each with output exceeding 10 billion yuan, 13 exceeding 5 billion yuan, 56 exceeding 1 billion yuan, as well as 344 provincial-level technologically advanced small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and 43 provincial-level innovative SMEs.
Guiyang has built a cluster of industrial parks consisting of one 50-billion-yuan-level zone and nine 10-billion-yuan-level zones. Development zones now contribute 92.3 percent of the city's industrial growth, serving as the main battlefield of industrial development and a key engine for high-quality growth.
