Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, hosted the 2025 China Mountain Dance Art Exchange Week from July 25 to 30.

The event's opening featured a 40-minute original mountain dance drama by Wu Hongzhi, vice-chairman of the Guizhou Dancers Association, and his Wu Dance Troupe, Guizhou's first private modern dance group. Fusing modern dance techniques with Guizhou's karst landscapes and ethnic traditions, their performance offered a style found nowhere else.

Now in its fifth year, the exchange week is China's only festival dedicated to mountain dance, driving the growth of Guizhou's dance art, boosting culture-tourism integration, and sharing ethnic culture with wider audiences. More than 1,000 people joined interactive events, turning the city into one big stage.

This year's program went beyond the main performance, featuring a cultural field trip, community shows, an expert lecture, and flash mobs, enriching everyday life for residents and visitors.
