The city of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is widely said to be making great strides towards sustainable industry and this process is continuing at a brisk pace.
The progress is exemplified by China Telecom's A8 Data Center, in the Gui'an Cloud Computing Guizhou Information Park, which was recognized by being added onto the 2023 National Green Data Center list.
It's understood that this acknowledgment highlights Guiyang's commitment to eco-friendly practices and innovative solutions.
The A8 Data Center employs cutting-edge cooling technology, using water-to-water heat exchangers during low outdoor temperatures to achieve an impressive Power Usage Effectiveness or PUE rating of less than 1.35 – showcasing its energy efficiency leadership among commercial data centers.
This green transformation of the city extends beyond the data centers. Resident company Guizhou Sanxiang Technology Co, operates a resource-utilization project capable of processing 1 million metric tons of electrolytic manganese slag annually, contributing to recycling circular economy practices and reducing waste.
Guiyang's focus on green development is in line with national goals for peak carbon and carbon neutrality.
By integrating green practices into the industrial processes, Guiyang's enterprises are boosting their productivity while reducing the environmental impact.
This approach includes cleaner production methods, resource recycling initiatives and the adoption of high-end technologies to improve efficiency and reduce emissions.
Moreover, Guiyang's industrial sector has reportedly seen significant energy efficiency gains. That's led to a 13.6-percent cumulative reduction in energy consumption per unit of value-added by large-scale industrial units since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25).
Overall, Guiyang's commitment to green transformation is said to not only foster sustainable industry practices, but also contributes to national and global environmental goals. That's positioned the city as a leader in green innovation and responsible development.
