On the eve of the Spring Festival, flight SG7662 took off from Kolkata, India, and arrived at Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport, carrying 14.6 metric tons of crabs. Over an hour later, the same aircraft departed for Kolkata, now loaded with electronic components and other goods totaling 16.6 tons. The total value of import and export goods on that day reached $1.57 million.
The Guiyang-Kolkata international cargo route officially opened on Dec 13 last year, with an initial plan to operate every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
This route leverages the import of high value-added products, primarily seafood, from India. This can reduce the cost of purchasing goods and open up an export channel to India. Furthermore, it can consolidate Guiyang's position as an important aviation hub in the southwestern region, propelling Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport's air cargo transportation to a new level.
It can also significantly improve customs clearance efficiency, reduce enterprise production and logistics costs, and provide strong support for foreign trade in Guizhou and the entire western region.
The "One Bureau, Four Centers" project in the Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone includes the International Mail Exchange Center, the International Cargo Center, and the International Express Center.
As of Feb 2, this route has transported a total of 462 tons of import and export goods, valued at around $18.4 million. In the future, the area will continue to expand and improve multiple international air routes, continuously opening direct charter flights to major fresh produce areas, such as Phuket Island, Russia, and Norway.
