In 2023, the revenue of the software and information technology services industry in Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area surpassed 80 billion yuan ($11.12 billion), with the expected added value of the digital economy accounting for over 50 percent of GDP, according to a press conference held on Jan 16.
Over the past few years, Guiyang and Gui'an have been working to develop their digital economy and have achieved strong results.
Efforts have been made to cooperate with renowned leading enterprises such as Huawei, China Telecom, Tencent, NetEase and Midea to build intelligent computing centers and data centers. The Gui'an Data Center Cluster has established 19 data centers, with 765,000 servers currently powered on, marking rapid progress in intelligent computing.
A total of 5,539 new 5G base stations have been built as well, reaching a cumulative total of 27,600 and surpassing the national and provincial averages.
The rapid development seen in the big data sector and improved infrastructure have driven the intelligent and digital transformation of industry, agriculture and services.
By 2025, Guiyang and Gui'an aim to achieve a digital economy added value accounting for 55 percent of their total GDP. The added value of core industries in the digital economy is expected to double, with an average annual growth rate exceeding 19 percent.
Investments in data centers and revenue from the software and information technology services industry are both expected to surpass 100 billion yuan. The server capacity is projected to reach 4 million units, and the average number of 5G base stations per 10 thousand people is expected to reach the level of developed areas in East China.
The Guiyang Big Data Science and Technology Innovation City aims to attract more than 3,000 enterprises and 100,000 talents involved in big data, with an annual output value surpassing 50 billion yuan.
