By 2024, new energy vehicles should account for 90 percent or more of newly-added and updated buses in all cities and prefectures in Guizhou province, while in Guiyang, the province's capital city, that number should be 100 percent, according to guidance recently issued by the provincial government.

The province is also encouraging the use of new energy vehicles as rural passenger coaches. In principle, the newly-added and updated urban taxis, including taxis for ride-hailing services, in the province should be new energy vehicles or clean energy vehicles as well.

The guidance suggests that by 2026, the province's stock of new energy vehicles should reach 700,000 units, and the market share of new energy vehicles in new car sales should reach 40 percent. The scale and operational quality of charging and swapping station facilities across the province should be significantly improved, with the construction of over 2,300 charging and swapping stations and over 490,000 charging piles, including more than 50,000 public charging piles, bringing in a charging service capacity of 4.8 million kilowatts.

A preliminary development model will be established, fostering the synergistic growth of the new energy vehicle industry, including complete vehicles and power batteries, as well as the sound development of charging and swapping infrastructure systems, thereby driving new energy vehicles to become an essential pillar of the province's modern industrial system.
