The Guizhou Provincial Development and Reform Commission recently issued a plan for the high-quality development of central Guizhou's city cluster, which stated the necessity to accelerate the development of Guiyang City and Guian New Area.
It will enhance Guiyang and Guian's roles as transportation hubs, opening-up, technological innovation, industry attraction, financial services, exhibition services, and tourism distribution.
The plan covers a total of 33 counties, cities, and districts in the region, covering a total area of 53,800 square kilometers.
By 2025, the GDP of Guiyang and Guian is expected to exceed 700 billion yuan ($97.09 billion), and its economic primacy index is expected to exceed 27 percent. The number of high-tech enterprises is expected to exceed 2,000 and the number of headquarters enterprises is expected to exceed 300.
By 2025, 140 "15-minute living circles" will be built in Guiyang and Guian, with more than 65,000 new public parking spaces, and 136 agricultural markets and fresh food supermarkets will be built or renovated. The permanent population is expected to exceed 7 million, and the permanent urban population of the city is expected to reach around 5.1 million.
The plan aims to develop the Guiyang-Guian-Anshun area into a core area for advanced manufacturing and modern services. By 2025, the plan states it Guiyang-Guian-Anshun area should achieve a GDP of around 900 billion yuan, with a resident population of approximately 10.9 million.
Furthermore, the plan highlights the construction of an urban economic circle centered on Guiyang and Guian and supported by the circular expressway. By 2025, the plan states that the urban economic circle area should have a GDP of around 810 billion yuan, with a resident population of approximately 8.3 million and an urbanization rate of about 78.5 percent.
