Guizhou to support Guiyang and Guian's transformation into megacity

According to the "implementation plan for the new urbanization of Guizhou province (2023-2025)" recently issued by the Guizhou Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Guizhou aims to turn Guiyang and Guian New Area into a megacity.

Major projects will be completed, such as the Suzhou-Guian Industrial Park, BYD intelligent manufacturing industrial park, Guizhou traditional Chinese medicine and medical equipment industrial park, Hengli (Guiyang) industrial park, and CATL Guizhou battery project.

It also plans to build the second phase of Guizhou CHALCO Aluminum Co's electrolytic aluminum project and accelerate the development of the core area of the national big data comprehensive experimental area, striving to create the "China's Data Valley."

The Guiyang national all-in-one tourism demonstration area will also be formed, with a focus on developing the productive service industry. It will enhance the development of 22 modern service clusters.

In addition, efforts will be made to develop the headquarters economy, implement plans to promote the development of high-tech enterprises, and support the the establishment of the China (Guizhou) free trade pilot area centered in Guiyang and Guian.

A five-year plan to attract talent and accelerate the construction of a county-level new urbanization demonstration project in Qingzhen city will also be implemented.

By 2023 and 2025, the number of headquarters enterprises in the city is expected to reach 60 and 300, respectively. The number of high-tech enterprises is expected to surpass 1,680 and 2,000, respectively.

The total number of talents is expected to reach 1.3 million and 1.5 million, respectively. The permanent population of the central cities of Guiyang and Guian should reach around 4.65 million and 5.1 million, respectively, with an urbanization rate of over 80 percent. Regional GDP should reach 550 billion yuan ($75.46 billion) and 700 billion yuan, respectively, with the economic primacy index exceeding 25 percent and 27 percent, respectively.
