Guiyang to provide convenient elderly care services

english.guiyang.gov.cn|Updated: 2023-01-16

Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, built more than 250 community elderly care service centers in 2022, and accelerated construction of several elderly care service centers in Guian New Area, local media reported.

The seventh national census shows that the number of local residents over 60 in Guiyang has reached 796,200, accounting for 13.3 percent of the city's population. The provincial population is gradually aging, so the demand for elderly care services is increasing.

The city aims to build a "15-minute elderly care service circle" to further improve the elderly care service facilities that provide day care, dining and comprehensive elderly care services. It strives to build an elderly care service network covering all the communities to provide convenient, considerate and professional services that meet the diversified needs of the elderly.

Guiyang civil affairs bureau is currently carrying out research on where to start construction of the elderly care service facilities and "15-minute elderly care service circles" based on demand and location.
