Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – has practiced the concept of green development over the past decade and as the first national forest city in China, it is now considered a place ideal for living and working.

In 2015, Guiyang's "City of Thousands of Parks" program entered its peak period and 660 new parks were proposed. In 2019, the forest belt around the city was 374 kilometers long, covering a total area of 2.18 million mu (145,333 hectares) and the total number of parks in the city had reached 1,025.

In 2020, the city added 17,000 hectares of parks, realizing its goal of enabling residents to walk only 300 meters to see some green landscape and 500 m to see a park.

Moving forwards, plans are for Guiyang to continue to promote its development as the "City of Thousands of Parks" and to keep making new achievements in the construction of an ecological civilization.
