The National Development and Reform Commission recently announced its list of national backbone cold chain logistics bases for 2022 and the Guiyang National Backbone Cold Chain Logistics Base – located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – was selected.
The national bases are said to play an important role in improving the cold chain logistics network system, ensuring the supply of daily necessities regionally and promoting the coordinated development of cold chain logistics and related industries.
The Guiyang National Backbone Cold Chain Logistics Base is composed of the Guiyang Agricultural Products Logistics Park, Shouyang Fruit and Vegetable Cold Chain Center and the Yonghui Logistics Center. It is also an important part of Guiyang's production and service-oriented national logistics hub, currently under construction.
The base covers an area of 899.56 mu (60 hectares) with a cold storage capacity of 783,500 cubic meters and a total investment of 3.26 billion yuan ($452.52 million).
Moving forwards, plans are for Guiyang to increase its support for the construction of the national backbone cold chain logistics base and strengthen the construction of functional facilities. It will improve the collection and distribution system, optimize the cold chain operation network, as well as improve the digital green development level of the base.
