The city of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently awarded 18 medical teams fighting the COVID-19 virus there with the title of Guiyang Honorary Citizen.
The awards were announced at the sixth meeting of the Standing Committee of the 15th Guiyang People's Congress.
The meeting heard and reviewed the "Proposal of the Municipal People's Government on Granting the Guiyang Honorary Citizen Title to the Members of the 18 Medical Teams Supporting Guiyang”.
The meeting was told that since the outbreak of the new round of epidemic, eight provinces, nine cities, prefectures and provincial units had quickly formed 18 medical teams to help Guiyang.
It is heard that the medical team members had carried forward the great anti-epidemic spirit. Moreover they had made outstanding contributions to Guiyang's fight against the outbreak.
Since epidemic prevention and control work is still in progress, the meeting authorized the Guiyang municipal government to complete follow-up work on grants and report on it to the standing committee of the municipal people's congress.
