Southwest Guiyang boosted by transfer of eastern know-how

In line with the development strategy for the western region of China, the province of Guizhou – located in the southwest of the country – has further promoted cooperation between the east and the west of the nation.

In addition, a new drive for industrial innovation and the coordinated development of "Eastern Technology + Guizhou Manufacturing" has been accelerated in recent years.

Chery&Wanda Bus Co – located in the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone, in Guizhou's capital city of Guiyang – is an independent auto brand formed by the cooperation of the auto industry in the eastern and western regions.

It has built a high-standard welding workshop, painting workshop, final assembly workshop, inspection workshop, new energy laboratory and complete test track.

As such, it has become the only vehicle original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, with complete qualifications in the province – with its products proudly sporting the Made in Guizhou label.

In 2020, the company invested more than 23 million yuan ($3.3 million) to build a hydrogen energy laboratory, hydrogen equipment and hydrogen raw materials inspection equipment. As a result, it became the only company in Guizhou to get the green light to produce hydrogen fuel passenger vehicles.

That same year, the company ramped up sales of hydrogen fuel buses in Anhui and Guizhou provinces and in other places and practically demonstrated the operations of hydrogen fuel buses.

Every year, Chery&Wanda Bus Co sends outstanding employees to the headquarters of auto manufacturer Chery Group in East China's Anhui province to study. Moreover, the Chery Group also sends technical experts to Chery&Wanda Bus Co in Guizhou from time to time, for technical guidance and to resolve any difficult problems.

In addition, some industries in the east have gradually shifted to the west on the path to development, which has helped pave the way for Guizhou Chery&Wanda Bus Co to improve its industry supply chain.
