Modern commerce and trade

Guiyang was approved as one of the first pilot cities in China for the optimization and upgrading of commodity markets in August 2021.

It completed several mid-to-high-end plazas such as Guiyang Longwan Wanda Plaza and Shan Shan Outlet Plaza, which have already opened to the public, and feature over 200 medium and high-end brands such as Gucci, Prada, and Burberry.

Four demonstration blocks for nighttime economy were developed and 324 community brand chain convenience stores were built in the city.

More than 30 promotional activities were organized, leading to consumer spending of 220 million yuan ($34.68 million).

Technological development and innovation

Guiyang's four scientific research and technical service enterprises were recognized as provincial-level service industrial leaders, and eleven municipal-level technology business incubators were identified.

The city supported eight scientific and technological R&D projects with a total investment of 30 million yuan, and invested 4.47 million yuan in municipal financial funds to boost technological R&D.

It also started using municipal demonstration institutions for technology transfer with seven institutions recognized, and encouraged local enterprises, scientific research institutes, and universities to register technology contracts, with the registered value of technology contracts reaching 11.76 billion yuan by November.

Culture

Guiyang helped seven film and press and publishing companies expand and allocated special funds to two key cultural enterprises to support the creation and production of high-quality plays and performances, talent introduction, and teaching and training.

As of Nov 20, the city had introduced four competitive enterprises and 29 cultural industry investment promotion projects, with an estimated total investment of 8.72 billion yuan, among which 1.46 billion yuan was spent.

A series of influential cultural brands were launched in 2021. The city continued to expand the workforce in the senior care industry, with over 1,900 employees working at local elderly care service institutions as of November. The city has more than 250 nursing homes, senior apartments, and enterprises offering elderly care services.

It also constructed 15 community senior care institutions and service facilities and started the renovation of six standard nursing homes.

Improvements were made to home and community basic elderly care services, providing 1,845 disabled and financially difficult senior residents with home-based aging-appropriate transformation and home-based services.

In addition, Guizhou province's first health care vocational college – Guiyang Healthcare Vocational University – was established in the city.

Exhibition and convention

Guiyang improved the quality and influence of local conventions and exhibitions by supporting them in obtaining certifications from international exhibition and convention authorities such as The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) and International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

There are two UFI members, two UFI recognized exhibitions, and one ICCA member in the city.

The city optimized the local business environment for the exhibition and convention sector and introduced a series of new exhibitions to be held in the city.
