Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – and the Guian New Area are reportedly continuing to expand their integrated development.
It's understood that the process has sustained its momentum by leveraging the powerful urban resources of Guiyang and the space and policy advantages of Guian.
Seven arterial roads between Guiyang and Guian, including Guantan Avenue and Binyang Avenue, are currently under construction. In addition, construction of rail transit line 3, the metro line S1 and a demonstration tramcar system has begun.
The Guian New Area, meanwhile, has completed the first three phases of new urban road networks and set up an integrated transportation network in and around the area. It is understood that the road network construction will be carried out to help increase industrial and commercial development and to improve the residential conditions and the lives of its locals.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, the city and the new area are set to jointly build a national transportation hub system, involving a three-hour traffic circle with Guiyang at the center.
The system will extend to the Great Bay Area, the Chengdu-Chongqing city cluster, the Yangtze River Delta area and surrounding provinces and cities. Guiyang and Guian will also build a multi-level public traffic system with rail as the main driver.
Moreover, the two will reportedly strive to build a modern economic system and issue a series of policies to boost the integrated development of their industries.
From January to July this year, the total revenue of software businesses with 5 million yuan of annual output value in Guiyang and Guian hit 17.33 billion yuan ($2.7 billion), for year-on-year growth of 52.58 percent, ranking them first in Guizhou province.
Plans are for the two to make good use of China's "Eastern Data and Western Computing" project – designed to build a network of data center hubs, to address the information infrastructure imbalance between east and west of the country – and to promote the construction of China's Data Valley.
By 2025, the integrative development of Guiyang and Guian is expected to be further strengthened. The combined annual GDP by then is expected to top 700 billion yuan.
