The work report on Guiyang's service industry in the second quarter includes 10 innovation and development projects.
Tourism
Guiyang played host to 58.81 million domestic tourists from this January to May, an increase of 42.25 percent year-on-year. The corresponding tourism income reached 65.87 billion yuan ($10.2 million), surging 53.69 percent on the previous year.
To boost local tourism, Guiyang has adopted a variety of measures including cultivating Guizhou-style tourism commodities and improving tourism and market management.
In May, two new Guizhou silver-oriented image stores were established in Guiyang's airport terminals.
Local marketing authorities also launched 18 marketing surveys during the second quarter, in a bid to provide better services for tourists.
Big data industry
In the first five months of the year, the business income from the software and information technology service industry in Guiyang reached 11.58 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 69.42 percent.
It is estimated that enterprises above designated size – those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($3.1 million) or more – related to the internet, software and information technology achieved revenue of 9.23 billion yuan during the first five months of this year, with a growth rate of 125.48 percent.
So far, Guiyang has reportedly integrated big data with 103 projects and 307 enterprises.
In addition, Guiyang has strengthened the construction of its digital infrastructure – optical fiber now covers a total of about 6.72 million households, while fixed broadband now reaches 2.17 million household users.
Health care industry
Relying on big data and tourism, Guiyang in the second quarter completed the total investment of 56.8 million yuan in hot spring projects.
In addition, 10 pharmaceutical manufacturing demonstration projects were included in Q2 involving health-oriented innovation and development, with a total investment of 2.04 billion yuan attracted.
Modern finance industry
In the first two quarters, the balance of Renminbi deposits in Guiyang's financial institutions was 1.32 trillion yuan, an increase of 67.32 billion yuan on the start of the year.
At the same time, the loan balance was 1.65 trillion yuan, achieving an increase of 72.17 billion yuan over the beginning of the year.
To stimulate the local economy, Guiyang has promoted the construction of a capital market and has improved the dynamic management of reserve resource databases for listed enterprises.
Modern logistics
From January to May, Guiyang handled a total of 310.56 million metric tons of cargo, a year-on-year increase of 20.52 percent.
In addition, the total business volume of the postal industry generated 958 million yuan, up 3.05 percent on the previous year.
Guiyang is currently striving to enter the list of national logistics hub constructions in 2021.
Modern trade
Guiyang plans to boost cluster developments in its business districts. Many shopping malls have enjoyed preferential development – with the AEGEAN shopping mall in Guiyang's Nanming district scheduled to open in December.
Technological development and innovation
Guiyang has attached great importance to technological development and innovation, participating in numerous seminars and surveys.
In addition to relevant regulations, Guiyang has encouraged various innovative enterprises and teams to be incubated and cultivated there, with the result that a total of 165 enterprises had found their home there as of the end of June.
Cultural industry
To enrich the cultural life of Guiyang, the city is emphasizing attracting increasing investment for the cultural industries. By the end of May, Guiyang had signed up four projects while another five projects are approaching.
Pension service industry
Guiyang plans to include services for the elderly in its annual civic affairs and to build two health care towns designed for them, as well as one pension industry cluster by the end of 2021.
At the same time, more efforts will be made to attract investment projects for the pension industry.
Exhibition service industry
In the first half of the year, Guiyang successfully held a variety of expos such as the big data expo and auto shows and solicited active responses from participants in the events.
To create a better exhibition business, Guiyang has undertaken multiple initiatives to launch surveys, roll out incentives and preferential policies and strengthen in-depth cooperation between governmental departments and enterprises.
At the same time, one-stop service for approval procedures is now up and running.
