Guiyang city is moving to ensure the smooth and efficient progress of a major medical facility currently being constructed by the Aier Eye Hospital Group Co Ltd, China's leading ophthalmology hospital group.
In order to do so, officials from the Guiyang Development and Reform Commission, or GDRC and the investment center in the Guanshanhu district of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – visited the construction site on June 29.
They collected information about the Aier Health Center, which when completed is expected to provide major benefits for the district – where it will be based – and the wider region.
The center, located in the central business district of Guanshanhu, will have a floor space of about 150,000 square meters and cost 2 billion yuan ($309.6 million).
When it opens, it is expected to function as a central city hospital in the southwestern region, a provincial medical center, a financial operations center and a global data center for Aier, a listed group from East China.
The facility will reportedly also serve as a mobile medical headquarters, as well as a provincial operations center for health insurance companies and other health-related support facilities.
According to GRDC official Wu Jinsong, Guiyang will move to create a better business environment for companies like Aier to flourish.
Moving forwards, the GRDC plans to establish a new liaison mechanism with local government to foster the construction of such projects and push for early results.
