As a national airport economic demonstration zone, Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone will strive for high-quality development to build itself into a new airport city.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20) period, the zone signed and introduced 85 key projects, including 18 Fortune Global 500 companies.
The total output value of industries above a designated size – those with an annual output of 20 million yuan ($2.89 million) or more – was 49.8 billion yuan. Also, the investment in fixed assets reached 160.7 billion yuan.
During the five years, 30 roads were built and opened to traffic, with a total length of 140 kilometers and an investment of 34.6 billion yuan.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) period, the zone will aim to achieve breakthroughs in cultivating a modern industrial system, high-level opening-up and innovation-driven development.
Relying on Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport, it will develop industries related to air transportation services, aviation logistics, aviation manufacturing, aircraft dismantling and remanufacturing.
It will also accelerate the development of mid-to-high-end manufacturing, focusing on new energy vehicles, new-generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, pharmaceutical R&D and manufacturing, and ecological specialty foods.
By around 2025, the zone will achieve a breakthrough of 100 billion yuan in high-end manufacturing output value.
In terms of high-level opening-up, the zone will enrich its international airline network and invest 200 million yuan every year to continuously strengthen global flight subsidies.
In addition, for innovation-driven development, the zone will advance the layout of artificial intelligence, precision medicine, 5G applications, sensor control and other industries to promote the in-depth integration and development of big data and the real economy.
It will select a group of backbone big data companies with strong innovation and development capabilities and support them to make breakthroughs in standard technology research and development for critical industries. It will also help them construct strategic alliances for industrial technology innovation and innovation resource sharing platforms.
