A research center for mountain biological resource conservation and the efficient utilization of engineering, recently got the green light to be classified as a Guizhou provincial-level engineering research center.
The change in status was officially approved by the Guizhou Development and Reform Commission.
The center is being established by Guiyang University – located in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – and will construct a number of laboratories over the next three years.
The new facility will become a first-class center for scientific research and development, academic exchanges and for training specialists.
The center will also prioritize pressing ahead with the research and development of bio-medical functional materials, products and food. At the same time, it will be responsible for guaranteeing the sustainability and health of mountain agriculture.
It will follow the established procedures for basic research, applied research, technology development and industrialization. Its construction and the various people it will employ locally is expected to make a contribution to poverty alleviation and rural revitalization in the area.
As of October, a total of 71 provincial research centers had been officially approved in Guiyang.
