An dedicated international internet channel -- covering the Guiyang Free Trade Zone, the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone and the Guiyang Free Trade Zone in Southwest China's Guizhou province -- recently went online, according to local officials.

As one of Guizhou's major big data projects this year, the channel aims to serve the digital economy, the internet industry and cross-border data cooperation.

It also aims to provide a high-quality international network access service for companies in the area.

With the channel, Guizhou will have a 240 Gbps bandwidth to connect with the international network.

The packet loss rate of the network access to Europe, Africa, North America, Latin America, Central Asia and South Asia will be reduced to lower than 1 percent and the network access delay will be reduced by over 10 percent, officials said.

The channel is expected to improve international communications and the level of opening-up of the industrial parks in Guiyang and in the Guian New Area, provide more support for export-oriented enterprises and accelerate Guizhou's big data industry development.
