A leading group for 5G development was recently established in order to promote the construction and development of the 5G industry in Guiyang city and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province, according to the Guiyang municipal bureau of big data development and management.
The leading group is composed of 56 departments, including Guiyang municipal bureau of big data development and management, Guiyang municipal bureau of industry and information technology, Guiyang development and reform commission, Guian New Area economic development bureau and Guian New Area industrial development bureau.
Officials said that the leading group is responsible for formulating 5G industrial development planning, policies and measures in Guiyang and Guian. It will also coordinate and promote the construction of a 5G network and engage in industrial cultivation, integrated application and investment promotion. Emerging digital facilities will be created with the help of the leading group to promote industrial upgrading as well as economic development.
Guiyang has devoted itself to the construction of information infrastructure since it was announced as one of the 12 5G technology application demonstration cities in 2018. Statistics show that as of June 2020, there were a total of 4,829 5G base stations across Guiyang and Guian, with 3,316 being put into operation.
Officials indicated that the information infrastructure is accelerating a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. The comprehensive development of the information infrastructure represented by 5G will help Guiyang and Guian obtain competitive advantages in today's digital economy environment.
According to the leading group, Guiyang and Guian will accelerate the implementation of 5G major projects. The 5G networks and a series of innovative 5G applications will be built and applied in key locations including airports, railway stations, passenger stations, residential communities and business areas.
